Gordon Hay Invitational
Amador made the short trek south on Hwy 49 to Calaveras High School with only a few members of the Buffalo wrestling squad; in all, 6 varsity and 1 junior varsity wrestler. Though few in number, the Thundering Herd made a positive statement advancing two wrestlers to the tournament finals: Brandon Jacobs (junior, 130 lbs) and Will King (senior, 140 lbs). Brandon Jacobs overcame his semi-finals opponent scoring with counter-offense to win in overtime; he fell short in in the finals to finish second overall. Will King wrestled through pain as he continues to recover from an elbow injury; he dominated his competition before falling to Justin Brown of Calaveras (SJS #4) in the finals. Senior, Anthony Antonicchio, wrestled an excellent tournament placing third after a tough loss in the semi-finals.
